Oh - thank you so much! I'm not sure my ins. comp covers it (checking into that right now). I'm an ex-colitis sufferer. Had proctitis for over 10 years, until it became pancolitis which brought serious problems that couldn't be dealt with by meds., etc. So, had my colon out in 1993, and had a jpouch constructed. Mostly, I do OK, but I still have inflammation in the pouch (possibly Crohn's). Don't get me wrong - I feel 98% better than when I had colitis, but I do have periods of diarrhea, cramping, etc. I've been trying different probiotics, including PB8 and LAC3, but have heard so much about VSL and how it can help pouch problems, including pouchitis (another common problem of pouchers). I tried to get a prescription for VSL filled a couple of years ago, but ins. comp. did not cover it. Do you think I need my colon surgeon write the script, or will it work as well with my internist? Finally, another good site for you all to check out is jpouch.org. It has a great discussion forum, and UCers, etc., also participate. Thanks again for your help!
