  Im wondering if anyone knows if UC and other immune based diseases are funded and promoted as much as the various cancers?

Prolly not, but if you wanna find studies you should try going to hospital's websites and searching. I was going to participate in one at U of M but I'm in remission. Figures! lol

Not as much...lupus and MS get a fair amount of attention. UC and Crohn's seem to get like none.

No. Cancer, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease seem to get the most funding and attention. And I definitely think that UC and CD are largely ignored because they're pooping diseases.

I think to really be "fair" about it, you'd have to do some sort of analysis that included the percentage of the population afflicted with the disease, factor in the mortality rate somehow, and then look at the amount of money that goes to research each year.

It would also be intersting to know how much money is spent related to each disease. Like prescriptions, Dr visits, treatments/therapies and colonoscopies for bowel diseases. I had a colonoscopy last october and it was $5,000. That's crazy for a procedure that's done in less than an hour.
