Can you sue your dermatologist for prescribing a med that says do not take if you have UC?

Can I sue my dermatologist for prescribing me a medicine that says do not take if you have ulcerative colitis?  He was aware of my UC condition but didnt take the time out to view my chart before he prescibed me a medicine that could potentially harm me even more.  I brought this to his attention today, and he said since you are in the process of trying to conceive, I will not give you any refills on your prescriptions and matter of fact you need to stop all medications so you wont harm the fetus when you do become pregnant-so now I have to walk around with all this acne on my face-I know that having a healthy child is more important but what am I to do-its like after the birth control pills, my skin just took a turn for the worst-feel free to give me any advice on this, I know I talk about several things but hopefully you guys can help me out.

Plus, I think all pharmacies are required to give you information about the medication each time they fill your prescription. The warnings are clearly stated on those information sheets.

I can relate. My dermatologist has completely no idea how serious it is when I tell her that I've been diagnosed with UC and antibiotics could trigger a flare. Dermatologists have been trained to prescribe certain medications for certain skin conditions. If they see bacteria-related acne or skin inflammations, then they prescribe antibiotics. I just had to stop using the topical antibiotic due to getting a mini-flare.

I know the feeling of having severe acne. I had such a horrible condition of bacteria-type infections on my face when I was in my early 30s that doctors had never seen anything like it before. I basically had two three-inch diameter red plateaus with transparent liquid underneath them and boils on top of them. It was absolutely horrible.

Aside from all the other medicines other than antibiotics, I have found that keeping the air cool and dry helps keep the bacteria from growing, whereas hot and humid climates made the inflammation worse. I also change my pillow case often (anywhere from a week to every day) and wash my pillow cases in very hot water. I also use rubbing alcohol in addition to all the other medicines. Basically, anything that keeps the area dry helps. I just read that vinegar also kills bacteria. I'll have to try it.

lol I put Listerine on mine but alcohol would probably be fine. Some people use toothpaste. It's crazy.
I know it's not the same, but I put tea-tree oil on my ringworm. Not sure if it helped, but it prolly did. It burned, anyways lol

Rubbing alcohol will help dry acne out, and it kills bacteria. I've also used hydrogen peroxide for the same purpose. They are more effective on open acne that is oozing with bacteria. They help keep the acne from spreading and getting even more inflamed. Some say rubbing alcohol can harm the skin, although it has never hurt mine. So I wouldn't use it if your acne isn't that bad. As for antibiotics, there are a whole bunch of other products, both prescription and over-the-counter, that you can try. There is no reason to take antibiotics if your acne isn't that bad.

I forgot to mention towels. They should be changed often. Acne can spread from reusing towels and pillow cases or anything else that comes in contact with the skin.

Do you actually use a facial cleanser and not a hand soap? Because if you are using hand soap you could be giving yourself acne? I had made the mistake of using hand soap to wash my face and gave myself bad skin (now I use make up remover (when I need to remove make up) and facial cleanser, toner (2% salicylic acid), mask (once a week), and oil controling lotion (twice a day). I orginally start on the proactive system, but now use the mary kay timewise for oily skin twice a day (cause it is easier to use (and cheaper for me) and I can just leave it in the shower). I also used the neutrogena one, but that dried my face out a little too much.  I also agree fresh towels every time you wash your face.
