I always split up my dose too- it's been a long time, but I would start at 60mgs day- my GI would write the scrip for 5mg tabs, which is a whole bunch of tiny pills. But, then when you taper it makes it really easy. So I would take 6 tabs in the AM, 6 tabs in the PM- 30 mgs each time. Always worked great for me (at least the first few courses). I did start at 40mgs once, which did absolutely nothing. I always needed that higher pred dose to get things improving rapidly.
