I also recommend imodium. But make sure that you get Imodium Advanced (which also controls gas.)
For my part, most of the time when I get a crazy urge, it's because of gas and bloating which I can't hold in. Combined with liquid stool, this can result in a very messy accident ;) With imodium advanced, you get both intestinal movement and gas under control..
Anecdote: I just went through a year of bad flaring. All this time, i NEVER even considered using imodium because I was afraid I could end up with toxic megacolon or something. But I started using it once in a while about 6 months ago and it resulted in a really positive circle where I became more and more confident to go to events such as your photoshoot.. My anxiety went down in general because I felt I had some sort of control over UC symptoms.. The lower anxiety helped my colitis, which made me even more confident, etc, etc, etc.
I really recommend it. But don't be stupid and start taking it every day. :)
On the long term, rectal meds such as 5-asa enemas or suppositories also help reduce inflammation of the rectum. If you reduce inflammation in your rectum, you'll have better capacity to hold things in..
That's my personnal experience anyway. Don't take it for cash as I'm not a doctor or anything..
See you
