Rowasa with or without Canasa?

GI told me to drop Canasa now that I'm on generic Rowasa enemas. What do you think of this? Is there any other time to take Canasa daily that would keep it in?

I was able to hold the Mesa enema in for 45 mnutes last night.

What reasons do you suspect he took me off Canasa? Convenience, practicality or Medical?

I think he took you off the Canasa because the Mesalamine is a LOT more of the same medicine going to essentially the same spot. Hang onto the Canasa for the time being so you can use them when you are done with the Mesalamine. 45 minutes is not bad at all. As thing get better it WILL get easier to hold them in. Be sure to lay on your left side, try and use deep breathing. If you are really gunning for longer lay with your chest on the bed and your butt up in the air. That sometimes helps me get a little of it up out of the rectum and the urgency will subside a bit. There's my 2 cents. :o)

You could also just try using half and see if you can hold it longer, then try a whole one after you can hold a half for several hours. You could use the Canasa sometime during the day, if you want.
