Apriso Savings Card ... renew?

Hi all!

I have not been hanging around much lately as all has been well with me.

I have a question, though, for those of you on Apriso and using the savings card.

I am getting a 3 month supply now and what I just ordered gets me through June, when my card expires.

I just tried to download a new card from the site and they say "only one card per customer"

Is there a way of getting another card, or can you only get the savings for one year and one year only?

Hm, I don't know...I haven't had to renew mine yet. Maybe it's worth a call to Salix?

Fruitgirl, I knew you would respond!  Hope all is well with you.

I was looking for a number to call Salix.  I don't have my card with me right now, I'll have to look on the back of mine when I get home.  I'll try to keep you updated.

Hey Jen! I'm doing great, thanks. I can't believe how close to a year of remission I'm getting. I honestly didn't think I'd be this lucky.

Fruitgirl, congrats on your remission! And congrats on your Forum Moderator status, too...I obviously haven't been on in ages...

I, too, am amazed at my UC remission. I will say that mine started in Mid July 2009, when I finally tapered off of Prednisone. My previous remission had only been 5 months. I thought for sure by now, I would have had another flare-up. Every time I get some rumbling down there I get a bit nervous, and with all of my joint pains with my last flare, whenever something out of the ordinary hurts, I get nervous...I guess what I went through from July 2008 - July 2009 will impact me for a while.

Anyway, I called the phone number on the back of my card. They couldn't help me, but they gave me another number to call: 866-669-7597. I called that number and the guy that answered was very nice. He will mail me a new card that is good for 2010. They changed the format and now they are good for a calendar year. I guess I'll have to get a new one on 2011 and so on.

Apriso wasn't on my insurance's formulary list. It was costing me $120 per month, minus the $50.00 from the Salix savings card. When open enrollment time came around again this year, I filled out a "formulary exception form" and basically pleaded for them to cover this drug. I now have to fill 3 months at a time per my insurance company's 2010 rules. I was worried how much it would cost...well, they approved me to have the drug covered. I paid $187 for 3 months and I'll get $150 back from Salix! What a great savings!

That's great if you can get the Apriso savings card renewed. Just beware that Salix can be fickle: they issued a Colazal savings card for about a yr or 18 months, but then cancelled it on short notice. (That happened right after Apriso came on the market.) FYI: my insurer also wants insurees to get maintenance med in 90-day supplies-- that seems to be common in the U.S. Terrific news that you're in remission!!!!!!!! Way to go!!!!!!!! / Old Hat (30 yrs with left-sided UC; presently in remission taking brandname Colazal)
