Next blood test tomorrow

Have my next blood test for my azathioprine tomorrow, I'm hoping everything looks good. Also scheduling an appt with my GI for probably the next week (after easter/passover) so I'm hoping everything looks good and I get cleared to be able to drink again...not that I'm an alky or anything but I miss being able to act like a normal 20-something. I went to a reunion thingy with my boyfriend last night with a bunch of people from his college dorm and it was a pub crawl so I felt a little awkward being probably the only person there not imbibing.

Poops are pretty much normal...had a bit too much caff to stay awake last night and that made me poo more but they are still formed, also no pain or blood. Pred still annoying, getting moonface and terrible mood swings. Down to 20 mg. Can't wait to be off it.

When you "drink"...please don't complain if you feel crappy afterward.

You shouldn't be doing so anyway while on Aza.

Stay away from rum, it's terrible... but maybe that's just me.

And I want to warn you not to use my drinking logic. Which is (when I'm with other people), "Well, I've already started so I'll keep going." lol

ElephantPipe-I really can't do hard liquor anymore anyway, instant stomach pains...but my god do I miss wine. Especially since I get a discount and have a small collection of nice bottles

I handle wine pretty well and have only overdone it once, and even then it wasn't terrible. I looove strawberry wine. I hope they bust it out at Easter.

Last time I 'overdid' wine it was more like, I tried to put too much in my stomach in general. I had half a bottle with my boyfriend on top of a restaurant meal with dessert and spent the next few hours feeling really, really nauseaus...of course my boyfriend had to watch food network during all of this lol. Nice way to find out that wine kind of turns of my "I'm full" meter.

Good luck tomorrow as far as the blood test goes.  I enjoy a drink here or there with friends or family.  UC has been good as of lately.

Will do, but I probably will not hear back til next week as I believe my doc's office is closed this week for passover.

as far as I know, it's ok to drink while on Azathiporine- I've been on it for years & have never been told not to drink alcohol, either by the pharmacist or my GI or my PCP. And it's not listed anywhere in the drug information you get from the pharmacy. Did you hear that somewhere, Quincy, or ?????? Sure, drinking in excess is no good for anyone, but a few drinks here & there don't seem to be trouble for most.

Alcohol in general makes me have looser bm's the following morning. And I so wished I could have a glass of wine because I like the taste and it doesn't bother my Uc much but wine give me migraines :(

I have been told by the pharmacist to avoid alcohol (it's on my prescription bottle of 6mp) and when I asked my GI he said occasional use is ok - so once again, it's about moderation.

I hope your blood tests come out good and normal.

I know it is disappointing to pass up drinks on a night out... but think how much better (or at least less worse) you feel the next day because you did!

Peety-I've never really had hangovers though. Yeah, beer will make me poop more the next morning and tequila gives me the ring of fire (yeap never doing THAT again), but that's about it.
