I know that I have been posting a lot of questions but there is so much that is going on with me that I have no clue about.. At least not until my Colonoscopy on next Friday. My next question is, I have never experienced pain in my kneed before but lately every time I have to go up a flight of stairs they hurt.. No inflammation just achiness in the knees. What's that about? Does anyone else get that? And I also posted something about my lower back pain (Mostly on my right side).. What is going on with all of these things? Are these associated with UC or Crohn's? I am sorry about the many questions cry

UC affects the whole body. Joint pain is a common symptom. I have lots of aches and pains in my joints I never had before, some severe and at times more debilitating then the inflammation of the colon and rectum. UC is an inflammatory disease. I don't typically have visible inflammation with my joint pain either though.

You shouldn't feel bad about asking.  No question is unfair.  That is what this form so great.  You will almost always get a response that is to be valued.  As far as an answer to your question.  As we all know UC is autoimmune and arthritis is commonly associated with it.  No one can say for sure it's 100% due to it but it is likely according to most people who are very familiar with UC and it's manifestations.  For this reason often a Rheumatologists are brought in to treat the arthritic component.  So in my humble opinion your discomfort is probably related but a qualified Rheumy will confirm this.

2nd that, that joint pain can be common for those with IBD Diseases, UC and so on. It's all really the inflammation wrecking havoc in our body and that is the best I've come to gather about it. But it is not the end of the world. And yes, it can be expected.

Though, It is definitely no picnic. I'd see your PCP and see about getting a referral ASAP to a Fibro-Friendly Rheumatologist. Get some through X-Rays/Scans and go from there. Get other things ruled out as well, Lupus, MS, Arthritis, Celiac Disease, but Fibro is common.

When I was first DX with UC, I didn't really notice the joint and muscle aches and then things started going downhill. Finally, enough was enough and I had enough so I went to my PCP and he referred me to a Rheumy and things are slowly but I think surely getting better. Just my 0.02.

There is a form of arthritis associated with IBD called Peripheral arthritis. It mostly attacks the knees and ankles and it corresponds with the inflammation in the colon. There is usually no inflammation with this type of arthritis and it's not damaging. However, if it continues you should see a rheumy to be on the safe side.

knees ... my life problem .. uc cause me arthritis in both knees , hips and shoulders... all this associated problems comes after a long period of uc diagnoses ..one month before i cant walk on my legs . i had inflammation in the knee forming a lot of water which i had
(knee draining) for it.
now i'm taking methotrexat injections for arthritis. and i'm really sad of it because its a very dangerous medication used to treat cancer and rheumatoid arthritis.
