I was diagnosed with severe pancolitis in Feb 2009 and have never been in remission and now consider me steroid dependent with possible surgery in the future. I’m on all the medications colozal, 6-mp, remicade, now on 30mg of pred down from 60mg.
Two weeks ago I was in the hospital on bowel rest for the first time. I didn’t eat and drank water and occasionally some juice. During my 4 day hospital stay I took my 5th remicade infusion prior to that I have been non responsive to Remicade. I knew after my third infusion in December it did not work for me because I was in such bad shape in January I was put on 60mgs of pred.
Eight months ago I had a food sensitivity test done and found out I’m sensitive to many foods dairy(milk), all grains expect rice, anything that has to do with corn(corn oil, high fructose corn syrup, popcorn. But eight months ago I wasn’t ready to give up all the foods I love. Now with having to have possible surgery I want to make sure that is the best decision for me. I have now quit all the foods I can’t have and sticking to an all natural and organic diet with no processed sugar.
Soooo…….After the bowel rest and this drastic lifestyle diet change I’m feeling SOOOOO much better. I’m still on all the medications that I have been on for the last 8 to 14 months that have not worked.
I just want to know what medications are or are not working and why when none of the meds worked and I change my diet I feel like I’m cured of this thing. I know my GI will think the remicade has now started to work but I don’t what to be on a drug like that if I don’t have to be.
Just confused on how to sort this out, any thoughts or ideas are much appreciated! High fructose corn syrup is made by the devil J
