Colonoscopy Biopsy Results

Its been about a month since my colonoscopy and I just got my biopsy results.  My G. I. doctor really isn't giving me a diagnosis, not sure why.

Does anyone understand/recognize these biopsy results? Thanks for any help!

Tissues:

 

A. Colon, Nos - right colon biopsy r/o microscopic colitis

B. Descending Colon - descending colon biopsy r/o microscopic colitis

C. Rectum- nos - rectal biopsy microscopic colitis

D. Rectum - nos - rectal biopsy @ 2 cm

Final Diagnosis:

Right Colon, Colonoscopy with Biopsy:

Focal Minimal To Mild Chronic Inflammation (nonspecific)

Decensding Colon, Colonoscopy with Biopsy:

Focal Mild Chronic Inflammation (nonspecific)

Rectum, Colonoscopy with Biopsy:

Minimal Chronic Inflammation (nonspecific) with Associated Focal Mucosal Erosion

Specimen #4, Colonoscopy with Biopsy:

Inflamed Polypoid Mucosal Segments with Associated Mild Chronic Inflammation, Focal Mucosal Erosion, Focal Mucosal Hyperplasia, Focal Reactive Epithelial Change.

From looking up some of the definitions, this is what I get out of it.
It doesn't say anywhere it's microscopic colitis...

You have inflammation throughout your colon. It seems it's been around for a while since the word chronic is used. There are cellular changes to say that. It doesn't say active, however.

the ascending (right) colon isn't as bad as the descending (left) which has mild inflammation and changes that point to being there for a while.

(I don't see Transverse..did he do some there too?).

The rectum has less inflammation than the left side, but there are localised areas of the mucosal layer that have eroded from the chronic inflammation.

Regarding Specimen #4, it doesn't say where it was taken.
It seems that it was a polyp type area or enlarged portion that was biopsied. That specimen has mild chronic inflammation with localised erosion of the mucosal layer.

It also has obvious increased number of cells in that localised area, so that's what caused the formation of the polyp-type area or enlarged area....

There are obvious changes in that layer of tissue as a reaction to possibly the inflammation (causing the polyp-type area).

Definitely do some research and make a list of questions for your doc when you see him....which I hope is soon regarding the hyperplasia area.

What exactly are your symptoms....are you bleeding or do you have chronic diarrhea...anything regarding sympms?

Thanks for the response! I actually just talked to my doctor and was told I do have Microscopic Colitis. Although was told this shouldn't be causing my pain. I was given cymbalta to help increase my pain tolerance and something else for the pain. I am also taking protonix but nothing else.

As far as symptoms, I am having horrible pain in my abdominal and rectal areas along with loose stools and tenesmus (some blood).

I would get a second opinion.....which microscopic colitis form do you have? Collagenous colitis or lymphocytic colitis?

You best ask exactly what the term r/o means (could mean rule out?)

You best ask exactly what the term nos means (could be not otherwise specified).

Have you done research on microscopic colitis? get really smart on it and prepare a list of questions to get your doctor to answer. He hasn't answered one thing from my perspective, and what he says doesn't match the results.
