bad heartburn due to prednisone

     I should have known to take the Nexium while on this darn prednisone.  I had such an episode of indigestion tonight, I thought I was having a heart attack.

     Just a word of caution to those of you on long term prednisone use.  It can cause stomach ulcers.  Back on the Nexium tomorrow...ugh, more meds!

Yes, I have been getting heartburn and my doc thinks I have a stomach ulcer from the pred. I have tried a couple of acid reducers with no success so far. I'll ask about Nexium!

Blah. I had terrible heartburn with it last time I was on it-this time I haven't been plagued with that as much. Once in a while, but not too often. Last time, I was on something for that-I haven't had to this time.

I had no idea about the ulcers-UGH!!!!!

that may be why I'm having heartburn.

My doctor prescribed omeprazole, which is an rx form of prilosec. Much cheaper.

Take 20 minutes before breakfast with water, take it even ifyou don't feel like it, (meaning its working) because the heartburn will come back.

I took Prilosec but I found apple cider vinegar tabs helped me just as much.

Yeah you should ALWAYS take the stomach tablets while on the pred. I used Rantidine.. Im guessing you are also on the Calcium (Chew) tablets?
