Hi Heather,

I seem to be doing better on this apriso, no sleeping spells or headaches. Is there a foam enemas I can ask my doctor for? The liquid does stay in me, the urgency is too much.

Not if you're in the US, unfortunately. I'm not sure about Canada. I'm pretty sure it's available in the UK. Sucks, huh? There are steroid foam enemas in the US, if you want to go that route. Maybe you could use steroid foam enemas for a couple of weeks until things heal up a bit, then you'll be able to hold a mesalamine enema. Also, have you tried to use half of an enema? Sometimes that works.

I used to have ASACOL FOAM ENEMA but i live in England, you could try Canadian pharmacy they do them.

Thank you Fruit girl, I will call and ask my doc about steriod foam enemas. yeah it sucks that they are not here in the US! I'm taking the APriso really well, I'm surprised, but happy. Maybe I should give it a week for it to work all the way down the colon to the rectum, what do you think?

Well, I think that there's only so far that an oral med can reach and treat effectively. There are several studies showing how people who use enemas plus oral meds get into remission faster (and stay in remission longer) than people who only use oral meds. That's great that you're tolerating the Apriso so well!

Have you tried just using half of an enema? I think it'd be worth that before the steroid foam.

Hi Linda...not available through prescription in Canada, wish it was, however.

Great you're doing well on Apriso. It's not available in Canada either.

I second the idea of using half an enema.
