I just came out of the hospital dealing with a bad flare...before and after the colonoscopy, they put me on a liquid diet for a couple days...it was more or less chicken broth, jello and juice. They also gave me popsicles as well. I was then switched to a low residue, low fiber diet to help with the healing process as to not put too much stress on my colon after all it went through. I'm still having loose bowel movements, not alot of stool (due to lack of fiber) but things pass very easily. Thank god I'm not seeing any blood. The bowel movement I had before the colonoscopy was FULL of blood. The low residue was pretty much white breads, tender meat (chicken, turkey, fish and I had a salisbury steak), mashed potatoes, soft vegetables like carrots, green beans etc., also had gravy, meatloaf with simple marinara sauce, eggs, a piece of french toast...you get the idea. There are plenty of options if you search for low residue if that is what you want to pursue. It doesn't give you all your vitamins and minerals so I'm still continuting to drink the Ensure that I had in the hospital 4x a day.
