Seasonal allergies

Ever since I was diagnosed my normally tolerable seasonal allergies have gotten out of control. In Minnesota we've had a really early spring and I am so miserable that I can't even focus in class. I've tried claratin, zyrtec, nasonex, alavert, allegra etc and they've all stopped working. I finally called my primary and begged him to do something. He's putting me on prednisone (yes...pred) at 20mg for two days and 10mg for five days. Has anyone been put on pred for allergies? I haven't been on pred in over 4 years so I don't remember much. Do I need to worry about side effects and stuff if its only a week??

Me too. I've been getting killer sinus headaches that wake me at night. Claratin and aspirin help, but I hate to take too much esspecially the aspirin as it's not good for my UC

I did allergy shots from kindergarten to 6th grade and stopped after that because I didn't need them anymore. It would be hard to do shots while away at school and I think you need to do them year round and I really only react badly to pollen.

I know of several people (including my daughter) who have been given a short course (5-7 days) of pred to help with severe allergies. I have been given a steroid shot before also for allergies...
