Alright everyone haven't been on the forums lately because I have been feeling absolutely PERFECT. AMAZING. NORMAL! i can't believe what remicade has done for me.
First of all... I was in a HORRIBLE flare about
5 months ago for 2 months. I usually weigh about
165-170 pounds i'm 6 foot and I was down to 119 pounds. going to the bathroom up to 38 times a day, had 2 blood transfusions, hospitalized for 6 days.. I was is in BAD shape!
I finally started coming out of my flare and ATE AND ATE AND ATE... got up to 170 pounds within a month and a half! then started remicade and i'm feeling amazing. not a problem w/ any infusions, they're actually a real relaxing time for me, get benadryl, watch tv, usually take a nap and get off work for it!
Anyways been in remission ever since.. I had 2 flares 3 months apart from each other.. both about
the same.. horrible, and now its been more then 3 months and NOT A SIGN of a flare (knock on wood) and i'm doing great...
Here's some videos of what I've been up to, along w/ back playing soccer and wakeboarding and riding my jet ski! Pretty amazing after not being able to move just a few months ago.

Glad to hear you are doing so well. Unfortunately, I built up antibodies to the Remicade rather quickly. Started flaring after my third infusion, stuck it out for the fourth, but still no difference
. Now on Humira and keeping my fingers crossed

Remicade did the same thing for me. It honestly saved my colon. I fear remicade though due to the fact that it immensely suppresses your immune system. It really did help me though, right after the 1st infusion. I had to get one every 4 weeks for about
three months. After that I didn't need one for about
a year, I was doing great! That was three -four years go. I'm flaring up now and I'm considering getting an infusion again as much as I don't want to. I'm so glad it's working for you though because I'm 19 as well and I know how it can effect our social lives.

They keep mailing me their darn brochures. Maybe it's worth considering now that I read these posts.

Hey congrats! It healed my colon and last August I had a clear colonoscopy; no ulcers or polyps. Good to hear you are feeling so well and back to living life again!

I've been on Remicade for almost 5 years and it has helped me have a life again. Things are not exactly perfect, but I am able to work, go to a restaurant, even go to the mall again. I get 600 mg every 5 weeks. I have some other digestive issues, but the Remicade has made a marked difference in my life for sure.

I am so happy for you and everyone that feels so well now after having Remicade treatments. They were a lifesaver for me. I give Remicade all of the credit for getting me into remission and allowing me to live a life with better quality. After 2 years on Remicade I was in remission even at the microscopic level. I made the decision at that time to stop the treatments. I am now taking Lialda daily and have been in remssion for 2 years by using Lialda. I'm not advocating that others stop their Remicade, it was just a personal choice of mine. I wanted to see whether I could stay in remission without Remicade, once remission was acheived. And so far, knock on wood, I have been able to. And, should the day come in the future that my colon looks like raw hamburger meat again then maybe there will be something else out there, as there are always new drugs in the pipeline!

That is great. I've been on remi since July of 2009 and I just had a colonscopy done and I went from severe UC throughout my whole colon to Mild UC throught my whole colon. I hope it continues to work for you.
