Bleeding a week after scope?

I just want to hear your experiences.

I had a flex sig last wednesdsay that was a bit rough . No biopsies taken, nothing removed. Before this Iwas going 1-2 times a day , no blood, no pain, nothing..

Everything is still the same now except that now there is some blood in my stool. The first couple of days there was a touch of stool on the toiletpaper as he had stuch his finger up there and was kinda rough and I think that aggrevated something. But now there is still that blood on the toiletpaper and even mixed into the stool. Its like a stringy blood.

I was told after that scope that UC was not active and that I was in a remission period. YAY! ya but now wth is goin on????

Is this normal? anyone else starting bleeding after a scope and is this treated like a flare?

i am still doing my nightly enemas and 8 oral salofalk per day. I dont know if I should increase the orals.

Sounds a bit strange. Blood is never a good sign. You should call your GI and ask for suggestions. Do the rectal meds help with the blood? It doesn't seem like it would be due to the scope this far after the procedure.

But all wasn't perfectly clear when you had the scope.....mild inflammation, clearly he wanted you to continue with a longer nightly regimen with the enemas plus the orals.

Just to add to the mix....you had polyps, they could be inflamed a bit more....

I think you should have them checked again and maybe removed.

To me it sounded as though things were clear. Up to that point I had no bleeding for about a year or so..minimal bms per day and just a tad of urgency and not all the time. Plus why would he say i was in remission if there was enough inflammation in there to cause bleeding? i dont get it. the polyps according to him were due to past inflammaton and i did some reading and these can even be a sign of healing as well.
i know this may sound weird but i am having eye surgery in a couple weeks so right now i do not have the time to go all the way back downtown, and get another scope to get them removed. especially since he didnt seem concerned anyway. I cant afford to miss any more work so i may just have to deal with this and hope for the best.

just went to the washroom to pee. i wiped just to see. BLOOD! I dont get this :(

Lots on your plate regarding health stuff...didn't remember about your eye surgery.


He didn't say clear, he said minimal inflammation if I remember correctly?
He might mean remission in that you have no active inflammation, for some the word is the holy grail....for others it's not.

Interesting about the polyps and healing...I guess it would depend on how bad you were initially..?

You're doing well from my perspective and with UC you'll have ups and downs.

All you can do is continue....you came from Humira and pred....5ASA is a slow process.

What eye surgery are you having?

Blood when you peed? That is very strange. I never have blood when I pee, I would have to at least release some gas for blood to be on the paper. Maybe you could have a tear or something? was it a lot of blood? A little blood could be from a tear or hemmie.

I stuck a mirror to it..nothing there but a nice anus lol sorry had too..

been gassy but no more bms today..only that one..and just like yesterday after i went, i felt very tired and relieved...

he said things looked clear in the rectum and on a whole i was a 2 out of 10..he said uc was not active. now what is the diff between non active and minimum inflammation..??? if im not active there should be no inflammaton as far as im concerned...

Mine was not active when I had my scope. If you're not having frequent movements and yo're not experiencing other symptoms, maybe the blood was a fluke. My symptoms usually start up before I see blood. I will be gassy, then have some urgency, followed by loose movements and eventually it leads to blood. I hope you don't see blood again so you can stop stressing.

I just thought i would add in my opinion for what it is worth!

I had a flexible sigmoidoscopy 22 March 2010. I had been in a really bad flare up since christmas, but as the scope was coming up things had settled down a little.

Now at the time i was bleeding only a very small amount, like tiny little streaks on the poop, or somedays nothing at all. After the scope i was bleeding like absolute hell!! Lots of blood clots, deep dark red blood, and lots of it. Very scary, but apparently normal as having a scope is a traumatic experience for the bowel, so the doctor told me. I also had a really bad tummy ache for over a week. My bad bleeding also stopped after a week.

I was found to have moderate rectal inflammation and mild inflammation above this, but unfortunately for me my consultant was horrible and treated me badly, so i am now going through a formal complaint process about her.

I would say bleeding for a week after a scope is normal, but if you are worried go to the doctors.

Krissy, you really liked this doc you saw last week, right....? If I were you I'd call and ask to speak with him and tell him what's going on.
The blood when you just wiped to check - that sounds more like my hemmie experiences. Let's just hope that's what it is. But in the meantime, you sound nervous about all this, so... maybe a conversation with the doc would be helpful. I'd ask if he saw anything that might explain this bleeding, I'd ask more about those polyps (at what point should they be taken out?) and did he see anything that might just indicate hemmies.....

I called the doc..go figure he is away now..he will call my Monday.
Today first bm no blood..second bm a bit right at the end..

     I was in the middle of a pretty bad flare when the doctor did a flex sig on me in Feb.  It showed mild/moderate inflammation in rectum...looked pretty raw to me on the pics.  Anyway, my symptoms got much worse after the sig as the doctor said they may do.  I was a sick pup there for a good week afterwards too...bleeding, urgency,etc.  Things are finally settling down but took a LONG time.  He now is talking about a colonoscopy when I can get off this prednisone.....I just looked at him like he had three heads.

I am hoping thats what has caused the bleeding. I really feel fine otherwise.
I am going away this weekend with my family and really dont want to worry about this.

Quincy- I am having corneal cross linking done. They just started doing it in North America. I am having it done to hault the progression of my Keratoconus which is also slowly disabling me...

Krissy....hope you enjoy your weekend and it's great you're feeling OK with no increase of symptoms.

I just looked up Keratoconus and cross-linking videos. Amazing! How would they have even thought to ever use riboflavin to create the collagen??

Do you have it in both your eyes?

Does anyone else in your family have it?

Yes I have it in both eyes. Mild in the right and Moderate in the left. Makes it hard to drive at times. Otherwise I function. But if my right catches up to my left then I will have problems.
I will be getting this done MAy 5th and will be off for a week till I get my pre operative vision back.

I didn't check, but can the surgery be repeated if necessary?
