Scope Monday, Feeling Icky.. Vitamin D?????

As you know I had my unexpected colonoscopy on Monday after a weekend of total liquipoopie that just happened to clean me out enough so I didn't even need to prep... Anyhoo..

I'm doing ok I GUESS... Although I do have lots of abdominal discomfort... such as pain and soreness.. It's pretty bad actually... I'm thinking it's just the biopsies he took and the overall trauma of what my colon went through for that couple of days...

I talked with my Pharmacist today and he told me about a lady who has arthritis very bad and was taking Methotrexate injections for it... He told me that she had been on just about every medicine available for it and wasn't getting relief.. She was at the point of despair... Then somewhere she heard about vitamin D, and it's anti-inflammatory benefits so she started taking it. She takes 8000 IU every day and reported to our pharmacist that she is feeling GREAT...

I am a bit of a skeptic, but I am going to give Vitamin D a shot... I went down today and bought a bottle of 5000 IU per day pills... I took one tonight and will again tomorrow am and then one every am and see if that helps any...

I'm getting so desperate I'm willing to try just about anything... I guess constant pain will do that to you... I'd jump off a bridge if I thought that would help... lol... (JK of course, but you get the idea)... lol.. I doubt I'm a candidate for surgery anymore if I get a diagnosis of Crohn's Disease, which I'm pretty sure I will, being my initial report suggests ileitis, which is basically Crohn's.... I was really hoping that getting my colon removed would still be an option but that might not be the case now...

So.. I'lll give this vitamin D thing a shot and see what happens.... Anyone else tried it?

Take your D with food or it may not get absorbed very well. Just came across that article recently after supplementing 5000 IU daily for a year and still being deficient, lol.

I thought it was only in the Cecum also until I read my report from Monday's scope today... I guess the Versed had got me a little confused still... Anyhoo, I could have sworn that my GI said that it was only in the Cecum and rectum, but today I found the actual report from Monday on my husband's desk and I don't even remember him bringing it home.. So, when I read the report it says "Ileitis Biopsies taken and colon biopsies taken" but that's it... It didn't say anything about inflammation in my rectum so he must have said that to my husband after the procedure... So... I guess I'll have to wait and see what the biopsy results are to be sure... Sorry for the confusion, now I'm confused as well....

He did say that my capsule endoscopy didn't show anything in the small intestine, but maybe during the colonoscopy he was able to get a better look at the ileo-cecal valve?? Man.. I love versed, but it sure screws you up as far as consulting your GI after a procedure... lol... Well when he calls me with the results, I have a list of questions written down to ask him at least.... lol... I hate the way I feel right now, like I can't even think straight and my entire abdomen is sore..... UGH

I'm sorry for the confusion..... I'll let you know as soon as I hear from my GI.. hopefully by the end of the week...
