We have a lot of discussion around her about
Prednisone and side effects. I just stumbled onto this site, which summarizes the potential side effects of Pred:

Hope it helps some.

Thanks, Judy. I added this to the UC resources thread.

I'd also recommend the book "Coping With Prednisone" as an excellent resource: http://www.amazon.com/Coping-Prednisone-Revised-Updated-Cortisone-Related/dp/0312375603/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1272480091&sr=1-1

Those pictures scared me...I have several of those side effects right now, though.

Yep, I have the buffalo hump, osteoporosis too. My blood pressure has been greatly controlled by taking the Benicar (20 mgm) with a water pill. I no longer have to take any other blood pressure med. Prednisone also increased my blood sugar but I watch my diet and monitor my glusose daily. It's been very good. Now that the weather is nice, I walk for a mile daily. Prednisone tapered to 10 mgm today...yippeeee. Symptoms of UP lessening with each day
. Keeping up with the rectal meds too

I definitely had trouble with infections after being on prednisone. I got UTI, sinus infections, ear infections, periodontalitis, skin infections. The ironic part is that I get flareups from antibiotics and antibiotics are used to treat infections. Infections -> antibiotics -> flareup -> prednisone -> infections ... I'm definitely trying hard to end the cycle. No more prednisone for me.
