anyone else on Asacol suppositories

I'm just wondering if anyone else is having the side effects that i seem to be having. I'm feeling nauseus a lot and i'm having headaches.. I'm not sure how effective they are at the minute.I'm wondering if anyone else has had similar problems.I didn't think that rectal meds would have caused these side effects, so i just want to run it by you guys before i take it up with my doctor.

Hmmm, I've done canasa suppositories and Rowasa enemas, in addition to steroid enemas... never have had any effects....

Hi Marty,
Unfortunately I haven't tried these asacol supps. I have been taking pentasa supps though, with no side affects.. Maybe try changing to those to see if it helps?
I think the supps make a hige difference for me.

Hi Fatboy

After 22 years of no meds and no flaring the first drugs that were prescibed for me were Asacol Suppositories, and your side effects were the same as mine. My GI made me stop them immediately saying my body was not tolerating them or mesamalasin.

Canasa marked a turning point for me during my first flare. I was around 7.5 mg pred tapering, in a lot of rectal pain, started popping in Canasas and started also taking VSL3 at the same time. Pain stopped in short order.

Hi and thanks everyone for your replies. I'm convinced that it is the asacol causing these problems, my skin on my face is very red today. I'm going to give it another day or two and see if they ease.I've increased my probiotics and i'm upto three cups of slippery elm a day which is easing the discomfort associated with this disease.

Ahhh.. a Derry Man!!.. Im a belfirste man myself!!..lol - a hoops man!! (Maybe shouldnt mention that consifdering the season we had!)
I had the red rash face just recently.. I got Nizoral 2% cream, sorted it within 10 days! - Worth a try Marty?
I would also switch the med, predfoam is an alternative option, or as I mentioned previously Pentasa Supps..

justwrong, i've been to 3 or 4 hoops matches.But more for the craic than the football, i'm united through and through. I been on Predfoam,pred enemas,proctifoams and my consultant told me at my last scope that he wouldn't be putting me back on steroids. I've been on and off them this past 18/19 years and they are bad news.
