Hello everyone,  I"m so sorry,  I haven't been on here in awhile.  I have been through alot the last year.  I got the surgery done on March 3, 2009...had complications ((long story)).  Just had my takedown April 6, 2010.   Wanted to stop by and try to help some by answering some posts...and say hi and wish everyone health!!   Hoping you all are in or nearing remission.   Actually, I wrote my long story on my blog at Christie's world.   I hope to help anyone else with answering questions,  or just giving support to anyone thinking about surgery.  My personal email is (edited, available in her profile).  Feel free to email with questions,  plz put UC or surgery questions  in subject line so I don't ignore it.   ((I tend to delete emails if I don't recognize the sender)).    Have a great night!!

Wow, Christie what a ride you've been on! I often have thought about you and how your surgery went. I just got done reading your blog and I'm glad things are looking up for you. Please don't be a stranger and pop in on occasion when you can ok?

Yea,  I have been through quite the ordeal,  but I will now say that it truly was worth it all!!  I will try to check in more often.  :-)   How are you doing??

I've been hanging in there. Just got over a minor flare after being in remission for a year. But overall I can't complain much. How did your daughter's handle it with you going thru so many surgeries?

Gads, you really went thru hell! So glad that you're finally recovering from the whole ordeal. There are some similarities in your story to what Pam222 has been fighting off over the past several months, including a fistula after the initial surgery. Welcome back to HW and thanks very much for sharing your story and photos with us. What a beautiful family you have! / Old Hat (30 yrs with left-sided UC; presently in remission taking brandname Colazal)

My daughters were stressed, but with help from my friends/family they were kept busy, and able to attend all there usual sport practices and games and tournaments,  which was important.  I didn't want there life too disrupted during that time.  It kind of sucked that mom couldnt be there,  but they seemed to do ok.  thank goodnes. 

I'm glad you're done with your flare.  Wishing you continued remission.

Wow, your story does sound so much like mine. My small intestine would not stretch far enough either and we performed the first takedown too soon, causing the fistula. I'm glad to see you are better now. I am still struggling so much
