Indeterminate colitis or colitis of undetermined type or etiology.
I think most people put more stock in the biopsies from the colonoscopy as far as determining whether we have UC or CD. I have heard Quincy (a regular poster here) say that CD sometimes mimicks UC at first, so that means a UC diagnosis by biopsy is no sure fire gaurantee that you don't have CD.
Some of the literature I have read says that people who are indeterminate may belong to a third class of IBD entirely. In that same vein, both of my GI's say that the terms "UC" and "CD" are being used less by medical professionals in describing seperate disease types. That said, I worried like you when I got that CD blood test back, as still do quite often. I know how you feel.
But try not to worry too much, as I've said:
1. Most of these iffy cases stay iffy for the duration or become clearly UC
2. A lot of time this blood test shows CD but it is "CD with UC like features." I asked the GI to explain how that was different from UC and he gave me a shoulder shrug like there is no BLACK and WHITE in many areas between UC and CD.
3. Even in cases like yours that might be CD, it would hopefully be Crohn's colitis, meaning only your colon would be affected anyway.
