This forum is amazing, I am learning so much here and I have had UC for 19 years (but only 3 flareups, thank god). Anyway, all of my reading on here made me pull out my last colonscopy report in Dec. 2009 and look it over. By the way I am still in the same flare mode as when this was done.
" A segmental area of moderately erythematous, friable(with contact bleeding) granular and ulcerated mucosa was found in the recto-sigmoid colon, the ascending colon and at 15 cm proximal to the anus"
Because of having that patch in my ascending colon, for years it was questionable crohns vs UC but in 2007, I had the test by Prometheus Labs the IBD serology 7, that showed UC. My GI thought my symptoms were UC as well.
Anyway, I am on 2 Lialda a day and Rowasa enemas nightly for my current. Do I need a different medication to treat the ascending colon? I am due to follow up with my GI and would like to be ready for my appt.
Also, from my 2006 colonoscopy(During a flare)
"A diffuse area of moderately erythematous friable (with contact bleeding) granular and inflamed mucosa was found in the rectum, the sigmoid colon, the distal sigmoid colon, in the ascending colon and the proximal ascending colon."
Does each different flare inflamed different parts of your colon? Its such a weird disease! I guess I dont really understand it. In fact I forget I have it in between flares.
So if you were me, what questions would you ask your GI?
