I keep thinking, if someone could just invent a Cort Enema that covered the whole colon...

I know, HOW? I didn't say it was realistic just thinking about how many of us could avoid oral prednisone if we could some how coat the colon with the hydrocortisone liquid in the enemas...

Have an invention idea? Or like a why can't they just... idea?

Many inventions come about because of necessity. Have you ever thought about making it?
Think of all the homemade inventions people have used because they wanted something they couldn't get any other way. I'm thinking of the turkey baster people use to artificially inseminate.

Who knows UC better than you do? C'mon. You can do it :-)

My doc and I were talking about how it'd be so nice to have an enema that would coat the whole colon (in this case, we were talking about mesalamine, but same concept) and he said that it'd be such a large volume that nobody would be able to hold it. Too bad, because if there were a way to use an enema that would coat the whole colon, I'd for sure want to use it.

Yeah too bad we couldn't have like external plugs on the large intestine that we can just open up and squirt the medicine in huh?

Well, I know that there are cows (on university research farms) with external plugs on their guts, so I suppose that idea isn't all that far-out, Sherry!

How about some kind of mesalamine-type capsule that we swallowed and then when it hit the colon it turned to foam.....?

Well, heck, while we are it, I am always wishing they could invent a tricorder device like they have on Star Trek, so they can diagnose your problem non-invasively. They could just move the device over your colon from the outside and see what state it is in.

I think song lady has the right idea. We need a capsule that could put hydrocortisone around the colon like mesalamine does! Yeah... I suppose that's what entocort is supposed to be though and it kinda isn't that great. I wonder why they can't make it work better. :o)
