Has anyone had any success with Humira? I'm currently in a flare and last time I spoke with my GI he said we could try Humira, otherwise, I'm headed to surgery. We've exhausted all other options thus far.

I was on it for almost 2 years and it worked very well for me until I built antibodies to it. Immediately after the loading doses, I went into remission. I did not have any major side effects from it, and it was very easy-I gave myself the injections at home most of the time. If you are not ready to do surgery, it is worth a shot.
Good luck-I am sorry things re not going well for you.

I was on Remicade with no luck. Started Humira in February and still nothing. I just started going to weekly injections this past Monday so maybe that will help me. Good luck with you. I hope the Humira works.

Diagnosed with ulcerative proctitis in 1998. Ran the gamut of meds.....6MP (two year remission with that before flaring yearly and having adverse affects from increased dosage), Remicade (built up antibodies after 3rd infusion), Humira ( started March 24th, as of middle of May no change). Surgery scheduled June 28th if not sooner.

You might also ask in the Crohn's forum. Humira has been used for Crohn's longer than UC so I see a lot more discussion about
it over there. It totally up to you, but I plan to try it if Remicade doesn't work for me (I'm having trouble getting off pred. at the moment). How are your symptoms right now?

Just started humira for UC and arthritis. It takes at least 3 months for it to get in your system. Some it may take sooner, some longer. This is my 3rd month, so i am hoping it is going to fulling kick in. So far getting out of a mini flare and no major joint pain. So maybe i am on my way to sucess with it.

My symptoms are bloody mucus-y diarrhea, extreme bloating, fatigue, mild cramping, anemia, and about
10 bathroom trips a day..give or take...
