Going for ultrasound tomorrow...and more blood tests

Things were going pretty well. I am off the prednisone finally and feeling pretty good. The 6MP might not be working quite yet (it has been exactly 2 months), but I am not flaring. I got a call on Friday that my ALT blood test came back at 115. Normal is up to 40. The AST was slightly elevated. In two weeks these numbers doubled. They want to do an ultrasound on my liver and then retest everything and add some more liver tests. I am still on the 6MP, but was ordered to go to the emergency room if I started feeling bad or I started turning yellow. Actually I feel pretty good. I am exercising again and able to lead a pretty normal life. I just hope we can figure this out. I hope that they can lower my dosage of 6MP and it will still be therapeutic.

Wish me luck and let me know if anyone had liver problems early on and if they went away on their own or if adjustments had to be made.

     Is that pancreatic or liver function?  When I was admitted to the hospital two years ago my pancreatic enzyme levels were off the wall.  My doctor took me off the 6MP immediately!  At the time, I was only on 50 mgm.   He did place me back on it after a few months with very careful monitoring.  I flared again the following year, he increased the 6MP to 100 mgm and that had a real bad effect....flu like symptoms, lethargic, white blood cell count dropped to 1.6 and bilirubin was twice the normal limit.  Off the 6MP for another two months, then back to 50 mgm.  He stopped the 6MP two weeks prior to my starting Remicade as he said it was too dangerous to have me on two immunosuppressants.  Well...Remicade failed, as did Humira.  Now onto surgery.  Twelve years with this disease is enough already.

Liver function. I am at the hospital now awaiting my blood tests then on to ultrasound.
