THANK heaven we have such a great doctor!  :-)    Our daughter (12) has been sick with a virus for about 2 weeks (sinus stuff).  She started getting diarrhea and having all of the ole' UC symptoms flare up so he suggested testing for C. Diff even though she's not been on any antibiotics in the last 5 months.  She tested positive and we need to start her on Flagyl.  I know those with Colitis/Crohn's are more susceptable, but we just were not expecting this!!

Anyone else been through this recently?  Any tips you'd like to share?

Fecal transplantation is good for putting bacteria (that generally has been killed by antibiotics) back into the colon.

Thanks, but we're gonna go with Flagyl for now. I cannot imagine doing fecal transplantation with a 12 yr old!

Wish we had a suitable donor/the courage to try fecal transplantation!  My daughter had cdiff last year, she needed several courses of flagyl because the cdiff symptoms kept recurring.  On the advice of her naturopath, she started taking florastor/saccharomyces boullardii (a beneficial yeast) to crowd out the bad bacteria.  She often had numbness or tingling in her hands from the flagyl.  Took flagyl on and off for almost six months, still takes the florastor, one capsule twice a day.  Has not had any c-diff symptoms since March!
