So I've been through the ringer in trying to get medication and I've tried every avenue with no success.
Asacol used in coordination with Canasa seem to be my wonder drugs. However, they are both the most expensive and my problem is that I don't have insurance anymore because my husband and I can't afford it. I have applied for Medicaid and they rejected me...my Dr. doesn't seem to have the answers so I'm just wondering how in the world can I get my medicine???
I am currently in a very bad flare because I haven't had my meds in a month or so now and I am extremely miserable.
What do I do???? Anyone else in my situation?
P.S. my sig line needs to be edited. i am not on a diet and i was taking colazal but would prefer asacol as it is what worked for me when i took it.

I am sorry, the current system really stinks and coverage is so $$. How about
checking into patient assistance programs. Good luck, I feel your pain!

sorry, i'm typing this with a baby napping on my arm so i am going to be lazy about
capitalizing letters...
anyway, i have gotten free asacol in the past from proctor and gamble. you could probably do a search on your other med, who makes it etc and see if they'll give it for free.
i'll see if i can find a link later tonight but you should be able to search for it on the p&g site under patient assistance.
then it is a matter of printing out the form, filling it out, having your GI fill out the Rx portion and then mailing it to them along with proof of income. they did it pretty quickly for me and then you just call in your refills and they come to your door. you only have to fill out the form once a year.
SUCH a blessing for me.

I have ordered from Canada with luck. It's much cheaper there.

Proctor and Gamble is currently not accepting any new applicants for their patient assistance program. What about
trying sufasalazine, it's much, much cheaper....

Pentasa offers a subsidy program for their drug. I was intially on Asacol but it made my d worse. Pentasa works pretty good for me for the most part........
