This was the first drug given to my daughter when she was diagnosed, along with 6MP. We were told that it will put 90% of Pediatric UC patients into remission, but that only 50% would stay in remission beyond a couple of months. The doctors were hoping the tacrolimus would put her into remission (it did), and by the time it started losing effectiveness, the 6MP would have kicked in and would hold her remission (it didn't). Her UC was so severe that the doctors would not even consider any of the 5 asa drugs, which we have since tried, along with Remicade, multiple supplements, probiotics, alternative treatments, just about everything under the sun (my signature line is way out of date)........1-step j-pouch surgery is scheduled for July 13. Best of luck to you.
