How do you know when constipation is constipation or it's the rectum signalling the start of a flare?

Prolly the form of the poo? I used to get really constipated before UC but my poo was always big and healthy. Now when I get rectal inflammation/constipated it's little skinny poo or something.

Blood/mucus is usually the first sign I look for. If you're not seeing either of those, but the consitpation lasts longer than week, it might be worth raising an eyebrow.

I wouldn't wait for the blood.....
consistency would be the key...more than a few days with gas and discomfort and farts that kind of disappear into the rectum and difficult to expel.

Me thinks that after diarrhea bout associated with vitamin c that I knocked off my regularity. I think the constipation is a sign of it and will eventually work itself out and it's not an inflamed rectum. Fingers crossed and feeling great.

I had a huge banana, strawberry and yogurt smoothie then had a normal bowel movement. So I'm not flaring!! Am so glad for that.
So going to cut back on the enemas to one every three days. Still doing Canasa daily....
