Hey ya'll I just wanted to share. I started taking Lunesta instead of Ambien and am really liking it. Ambien made me a little grumpy and groggy the next morning and Lunesta seems much better for me in that regard. It appears to be working better as well. And (woohoo) they have a co-pay assistance offer right now so I save $50 on my co-pay. And no, I don't work for Lunesta, lol just glad my PCP suggested it when I complained about Ambien and thought I'd share. :o)

I have no problems sleeping now, but when I was on Prednisone I couldn't sleep at all. Didn't like Ambien, Lunesta gave me a headache -- I gave Tylenol PM a try and it did the trick. I also sleep with an MP3 player playing a dull podcast ... the talk just lulls me right to sleep. The MP3 player is all I need now. In fact, I can't sleep without it! Found that out the hard way when I went away for a weekend and forgot the charger! The strange bed and room certainly didn't help any!!

So glad you found something to help you sleep, Jennifer. It's sooo important to getting well and slogging through a course of prednisone. I found Ambien to be deadly when I didn't sleep enough. It put me in such a haze. Lunesta I found didn't work at all. If you have trouble with Lunesta, I'm doing a combination of melatonin and ZMA (Zinc Monomethionine Aspartate plus Magnesium Aspartate and vitamin B-6). It's available in health food stores and really knocks me out.

If all else fails I fall back on Klonopin which definitely puts me to sleep. I run the risk of being groggy on that though the next day if I don't sleep enough.

Thanks for the Herbal tip Ellen! I am hoping to come off the Lunesta as soon as I can get off pred, so I'll definitely try the combo you mentioned for the transition. :o)

ZMA is a sports recovery supplement. It's in health food stores.
