For a quick update on my situation: The first dr. was just a general surgeon who I was referred to and diagnosis was "non-specific colitis". He treated with Asacol and prednisone and told me to wean off Asacol and stop pred. cold turkey. Also he told me to do this while I was still having blood and said that I would always have a little. So , unhappy with his willingness to let me bleed for life, I found GI and now have a specfic diagnosis.
Moderate to severe ulcerative proctitis. Got pictures and all. And when the first test was done, things were MUCH worse then and he couldn't say for sure? Well, my suspicions were true, he didn't know much about what he was looking at and had no business trying to treat me. He should've been responsible and referred me to a specialist in the first place. I didn't even know what a GI was until after he diagnosed colitis and I researched it and found out it is normally taken care of by a GI. So for those who say it is my responsibility to say if I didn't want to go to him in the first place and should've asked for a GI to begin with if I had a problem with it, I didn't know any better and trusted the other Drs. Well, I am happy to know for sure what it is. Happy to have a Dr. who knows what he is doing. And am still not sure if or what kind of action to take with the first guy. Any suggestions?
