Hello everyone, new to the forum. I am 25 years old, been diagnosed with UC 3 years ago. I feel everyones pain, this is awful, and more people need to be aware of this problem. I currently am on sulfasalzine 2 pills 3 times a day. I am in a middle of a flare, been through 2 predisone tapers, and saw some improvement while on Pred. However, now that I am off Pred. my problems went back, with bloody stools and what not. I recently bought VSL3 probiotic, and was wondering how many times a day should I take this.

I would start with 1/2 pack a day for a week and then go up to 2-3 packs a day.
if you start slow, you won't have as much of a problem with die-off.

a pack? It actually comes in a bottle....and the dosage says between 2-8 a day.

Oh, if you are using the capsules, then I would start out with two a day for a week or so -- maybe even just 4 or 5 days and then up it to 6 to 8 caps per day.
To get the full dosage, you need to be using at least 4 a day, but start with 2 a day to reduce any major die-off symptoms.

Hi Ryan, and welcome to the forum!
With any supplement, I have found that the best thing for me to do is to start with a small dose and then increase it. VSL can cause some gas at the first (I didn't experience that, but others have) so it would be better to not bombard yourself with a large dose at first.
If it works for you, you might want to look into having your doc prescribe VSL#3DS (Double Strength) which is prescription only - if you have prescription insurance, it well might be covered.
