Bathroom dreams **may not want to read**

Ok I know dreams aren't real and can be kind of crazy.  I always have the same kind of dreams probably because of my years of worrying about my UC in public.

My recurring dream always seems to be the same:  I'm in a very public place with a lot of people around and desperately need to find a bathroom.  I always find one but it's out in the open, or the door doesn't close, or you can see through the walls.  People are always mingling around or can see me but I'm still relieved to find a toilet.  Sometimes the bathroom is really rancid, or unbelievably dirty, or the stall is so small you can barely squeeze into it.  As I'm going people are walking by, or looking. 

You may not want to read this last dream:

Last nights dream was the most bizarre so far.  I was in public as usual, sitting at a table with a lot of people and went #2.  It was very normal but the bizarre part was that it was...um..huge.  about 2 feet long.  It landed on the floor with a loud "thud" and everyone noticed.  Then of course I was expected to pick it up. I got down on the floor with some towels and then of course woke up.  It that bizarre or what?!?

I have had sooooo many odd bathroom dreams over the years too. And like yours, it is sometimes reoccuring. I usually have the dirty overflowed toilet in my dreams. I have to find a bathroom and the only one that is available is a toilet that is overflowing, stinky and on a pedestal that puts me slightly over the top of the stalls where everyone can see me. Boy, this disease has a way of getting under your skin huh????

Yours is too funny.

Yeah, once I walked it and it was all women.  There were no doors on any of the stalls but I just sat down anyway.

It doesn't really seem that surprising that UC'ers might have these kinds of dreams. Most people have the dream of going to school naked which is pretty similar if you think about it. Some kind of embarrassing situation in a public place. Take into account that we have a condition that we have to worry about and you can easily see how it would slip into your subconscious.

 

I've had a few dreams like the ones you talk about so I know what a relief it is when you wake up, lol

I have bathroom dreams as well, and most of them are that I can't find one private enough or that there are others coming around just before I have a bm.

Even though many of us do have bathrooms and poo as a major part of our focus, it doesn't mean that dreaming about it doesn't represent something else we're working on or experiencing. Poo and bathrooms is something that would be at the forefront but representing more than just literal.

Ahahaha! I always dream that I'm trying to be really sly and go poop in a corner of a room full of people like no ones gonna notice. After I poo I realize what I'm doing and freak out and run. I crack up over these dreams now. I dreamed one time that I was hiding behind a clothes rack in Macys pooping.

I have this dream all the time, but not about pooping, it's when I'm sleeping and in real life I have to pee. The dream has me wandering all over looking for a bathroom, and when I finally find one, it's broken, overflowing, no door on it, or all of the above... just like your pooping dream but it's about needing to pee. My mom and husband have these dreams too.

OMG! I always have the potty with the door that won't close or lock or people can see me dream too!!! Never had a 2 foot poop dream though, lol!

I had this dream last night. I was in a public place, and the stalls weren't very private. I had to go really badly, but every toilet I went to was unbelievably dirty. I finally found a clean one. It had two doors, neither or which could close all the way. And right when I was going to use the toilet, someone came in. So I left and kept searching, only to keep finding really dirty toilets.

I've been having bathroom dreams a lot since getting my first flare.

We haven't had a dream thread in a while!!

Finding a restroom is always part of my dreams! And the struggle is usually to find one that has some privacy. They are usually locker room (prison?) type restrooms that I finally find, and I search around for the most private toilet...

I am also expecting nightmares due to the beta blocker that I started for my migraines but I have this link in my bookmarks so I can take out my phone and check before searching, even in my dream :)

Hmm I can't say I remember having bathroom dreams, I usually have dreams of anxiety though, like I am under pressure or of impending doom. An attack from monsters, or a tornado is coming at me type of thing.

I dream I never finished my courses for my degree, have to leave my fiancee, life, and job, and move back to my college town and take a few more classes. Once every two to three months.


My brother has the same dream, and he is six years older than me. Same university, same degree.

I have a recurrent dream where I suddenly realize final exams are the next day (can be either university or high school) and I haven't been to class all year. It's too late to drop the classes so I try to cram a whole year's worth of classes into one night. Ugh.

And I have the tornado coming at me dream too... so that's from anxiety is it?? Makes sense. Maybe the exam dream is too.

desdwel, my bathroom dreams are practically identical to yours...I'd sum it up to the fact that in general with having IBD we worry so much about making it to the can, making it to an available can, and the "public" addition to the dreams are the fear of having an accident in public and/or ppl hearing us pooping/farting in public (basically the public humiliation of having this DD). Your dreams are completely normal and understandable for an IBDer.

I've had bathroom dreams for years, even before I started having problems. Mine usually involve giant, maze-like things that are filled with people, who for some reason are usually naked. (including me) It's like looking at a bunch of dolls, though, the bodies all look the same, with no features other than arms and legs and heads. The stall walls are only half as high as they should be, and there's usually more than one toilet in each. And it's always really bright. I'm a lucid dreamer, though, meaning that when I'm dreaming, I know I am and can actively control what happens in the dream. Most of these dreams happen when I'm PMSing, so I think they're hormone related, which might explain the naked people...
