Thanks C_G_K for your suggestion to schedule an appointment ahead of time. I got myself a doctor and an appointment set up for Tuesday of next week. My UC is doing somewhat better, but you never know what to expect the next day. Sure hope I can get my meds all figured out on my first appointment. :)

Glad you have something worked out for next week.

Your situation is very similar to what I went through moving to AZ (moving, waiting for benefits to kick in, and needing to find a doc) except my flare was horrible, the worst I've ever had. Oral prednisone didn't even touch it. Had to be hospitalized for two weeks on IV steroids , right over Christmas. My wife brought all the presents to the hospital room and my kids opened them up right there. My brother came to visit that Christmas, and the first thing I said to him was "can you take me to the hospital and then look after my kids?". We were juggling my wife's new job, looking after the kids and everything else. She couldn't take time off because she had just started with her new Job. Colitis sucks.

Your colitis problem was like mine when I first got sick. I was in the hospital for 25 days while my husband was in College and we had just moved into a new apartment... I was too scared to go home worried that if I went home I'd have to go back the next day. Right now I'm managing, my bleeding seems to have gone away, but it's still not normal though. :( My appointment it a consultation though, hopefully this consult can get me some new meds ASAP.

My experience was that the new Doc wanted to run a whole battery of tests before he would do anything. I did the stool test, blood tests, colonoscopy and all the rest of it before he would write any prescriptions.

That was annoying to me and seemed like a waste of time. He also wanted all my medical records forwarded from my previous Doc which was reasonable, but hard to do.

Sure has been hot! I accidentally closed the trunk of my car yesterday with my keys in there. I was stuck at the grocery store for 45 min and I got a sunburn from it. I still have to get used to remember to put sunscreen on daily.

I'm already prepared for the medical records to be transferred. My husband and I decided to get the most important stuff copied onto a CD so that we have out medical records on hand so that the it the transfer is difficult we already have the important stuff on hand.:)
