Hello,
I am brand new to this forum, but after finding lots of helpful and resourceful information in regards to Ulcerative Colitis and Ulcerative Proctitis, I have to ask:
I am currently in the military, I have been in almost 3 years, and was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis two years ago (though now my new specialist is calling it ulcerative proctitis because most of it is under control). None of the symptoms or anything started until about 5-6 months after I joined the Marine Corps, and after two major, long lasting flare ups, I am now on Remicade and Lialda. The Naval Specialist just started my PEB this morning. Imuran and Prednisone only make me sicker and more nauseous. My bleeding is under control for the moment but the stomach pains and cramps still come and go. I cannot deploy due to my diagnosis, and I will not be allowed to re-enlist. What are the chances of me being medically retired, and a possible disability rating because I have been told that I will probably be out of the Corps within 8 months to a year and I want to make sure that my life is as much on track as possible for the transition. I want to thank anyone that repsonds in advance for your help and your time.
