Imuran nausea remedies?

My side effects are moderate headaches, hair loss and nausea. The nausea is the only one I haven't been able to manage. Any advice will be helpful. My usual nausea remedy is ginger tea or ginger ale. May ask for an anti-nausea rx.

the whole time i was on immuran i was on phenogren, lots of it i had gotten up to about 200mg a day! protonix also helped some. when i talked to my surgeon though, he was suprised that they had let me be on that much phenogren that long. It might be dangerous long term or something.

My doc pulled me off of imuran due to it causing so much nausea and moved me to Remicade. Have you already tried that?

I have just started Imuran about 3-4 days ago. I only felt a chest cold feeling and a stuffy nose one night after taking it then all symtoms went away. I am also on Remicade right now as well as the Imuran, goodluck with controlling your nausea. When I do get nausea though and gravol doesn't seem to do the trick I take Ondansetron, which you need a prescription for, but works wonders. Goodluck again.

Have u tried boiling pure ginger in water? You get a more potent tea this way.

I tried taking it at bedtime so that I would sleep through the nausea but I found that I was extremely nauseated in the morning still.  I started taking it at dinner time or even later in the evening, with food and it helps tremendously!  Maybe it's just the timing and I am sleeping through the worst of it?  Or maybe it's a drug that needs to be taken with food.  Either way, it did the trick for me for the most part.  Good luck.

Thank you for everyone's good advice and comments. I tried taking it after dinner but I ended up with insomnia. I do make ginger tea with mashed fresh ginger and a little lemon. I always take Imuran with food. A friend told me to try drinking at least four 8-oz glasses of cranberry juice a day while on Imuran. Today was the first day I tried it and no more nausea! My energy level also improved. I see no logic with this but I hope it continues to work. If I still have nausea on Monday, GI said he will give me phenergan. Remicaide is not covered by my insurance so we are saving that for the next step if the azathioprine doesn't work. My husband and I were just laid off. I need to keep things as cheap as possible until we find new jobs.
