Hoping someone can recommend a good Dr. in Vancouver, B.C.

I was originally diagnosed with UC back in 2004. Originally I was diagnosed with mild proctitis. Fast forward two years and by that time I had moderate inflammation up to the 35-40 cm mark. The only meds that I have ever been on are Salofalk suppositories which I was told to give to myself as I saw fit. The only test that my Dr. has ever performed is a sigmoidoscopy. I have only visited my GI twice - when my mild on-off flaring became more severe. Although I have asked if I should be checking in on any regular basis with my GI (i.e. every six months or annually), she always just says that she doesn't need to see me unless I can't control my flares. I would think that I should be seen at least every few years to be given a scope to make sure that everything is looking as it should be (i.e. cancer screening). Despite the fact that I have had repeated problems with duodenal ulcers (at least three rounds - all H. Pylori negative) my Dr. has never seen fit to give me a full colonoscopy, endoscopy or a barium swallow. I feel like a bother to her when I am in her office and hesitant to go in unless things are really bad.

I am hoping someone can recommend a good GI Dr. in the Greater Vancouver area (I live in White Rock). Specifically, I would love to know if anyone has a Dr. in the area who uses Pillcams as I am terrified at the thought of having an endoscopy done.

Before I left Vancouver, I was seeing Dr. N azira Chatur (she works out of VGH). Unfortunately my first Dr., who diagnosed me, Dr. Carr was struck down with cancer and passed away suddenly. He was known to be one of the best and was beloved by everyone that had the good fortune to meet him. Before he died, he managed to get me transferred to Dr. Chatur. She was every bit as good as him. I never felt once that she wasn't on top of my treatment and she always seemed to come up with a good idea to try and get me into remission, and usually her ideas worked. I can not recommend her highly enough. Of course she is probably booked at least a year in advance for new patients, that is if she is even taking any.
