Colonoscopy Results

Well today's colonoscopy went just terrible. My GI was going to do 30+ biopsies and check me for Crohn's disease atop my current severe ulcerative pancolits however she was only able to examine 30% of my colon due to extreme inflammation. She didn't risk going any farther because I am at a very high risk for rupture or perforation. She immediately made me an appointment with her tomorrow afternoon at 4:30pm to go over new medications. She is going to start a very aggressive approach because my disease is getting much worse instead of better. Also, most of the ulcers have turned into erosions. Not the way I was hoping things would go. :( I will let you know what medications she puts me on. I am hoping and praying for a miracle drug at this point...something that will work for me. I have only ever been on prednisone and Asacol so hopefully getting rid of the Asacol and starting fresh will help.

Definitely hang in there.  I was in the same boat but maybe not as bad.  I had UC that spread and got worse while being on Prednisone and Asacol.  I eventually switched doctors and was put on Imuran (immunomodulator) that really has helped me heal my colon and put my UC in remission.  I don't know what your doctor will recommend but please do not despair.  This is a rather common occurance where people with UC find that the 5 ASA meds don't manage their UC well.  There are other options and your doctor was right to stop and re-evaluate because what your presently doing isn't cutting it.  Good luck and keep us posted.
