It sounds eerily similar to the abscess I had, which I thought was a hemmorhoid, which turned into an RV fistual that I've had for about
3 years now. First off, a CT scan won't necessarily show a fistula- when I brought up my suspicions with my GI, he ordered one which showed nothing. My gynecologist was finally able to see it. That's where you should start off on the medical front, with your gynecologist. Wait sorry, just re-read your post. Your next step is with a colorectal surgeon- they have very specialized ultrasounds & CT scans they use to look for these. Plus, tons more experience int hem than your average GI or gyn. I have seen 2 now, discussing possible surgical repair, but as yet have not opted to do so. Successful repair rates are very low, around 30%. And if you have active disease, they really cannot repair a fistula using damaged tissue. Or a plug, as it will not adhere properly, blah, blah, blah. The discharge I experience is not obvious fecal matter- it's mainly mucousy stuff, sometimes pinkish, if I'm having frequent loose stools, I will see fecal matter in it. I have to wear a pantyliner 24/7, & when I pass gas, it comes thru the fistula. Are you experiencing this, gas coming from where it shouldn't? That was my main indicator that something was not right. I had seen my gyn. once who saw nothing, then when symptoms continued I made another appointment, & she was finally able to see it- mine is lcoated right outside the base of the vaginal
opening. Point is, I had about
a year of symptoms, CT scans & exmas with all doctors telling me there was nothing wrong. If you think there's a fistula, put yourself at ease & see a good colorectal surgeon. Are you leaking blood from your rectum, I mean, is the TP pink or bloody? Is it feasible that the blodd you're seeing from your vagina is coming from your rectum? I wish I was more hopeful, but honestly- your post reads like my experience exactly, abscess right into fistula. And here I am, years later, still with the fistula. It stinks! In all ways.
