Quick question on flex sigmoidoscopy and prednisone

Hi everyone,

Tomorrow I'm getting a flex sigmoidoscopy done (it's my very first time, I had a colonoscopy done in July but I was sedated so I don't remember a thing) so I need to start the preparation tonight with some milk of magnesia and tomorrow a couple hours before the sigmoidoscopy with some enemas. I can't eat anything starting tonight at 6 PM and my sigmoidoscopy is at 3 PM tomorrow.

I'm also on 30 mg of Pred, and I usually take it in the early morning at about 6:00 AM (I wake up everyday at like 4:00 AM to work). Since I can't eat or drink milk, this means that tomorrow I won't be able to take my pred on my scheduled time, so what should I do??? is this gonna cause me trouble because of the lack of steroids for like 12 hours or not? should I take tomorrow's dose right after the sigmoidoscopy or should I just skip that day?

I'm still a beginner in this whole think so I would really appreciate your help!

I agree w Songlady. I'm neurotic about taking my Pred at the same time every day.

You should definitely call the doctor to make sure. Anyway, if you take it early in the day, or when you get the OK from yor doctor, with a sip of clear liquid, shouldn't it be absorbed by 3 PM? I would be concerned if you were having a stomach scope, but since you're looking at the other end :)
