aguywithuc, I was on warfarin for 6 months after my stroke associated with UC (cerebral venous thrombosis)
Plato8 same story here. The difference is I went to the hospital with no numbness after 24 hours of extreme cranial pressure and projectile hurling. Also I was prepared for a long recovery when I was in the ICU with a non-working right arm. What I did was continue to use it and the heparin stopped the 2nd and more clots from forming, the doctor said our own bodies worked on the problem clot. I have to thank my ex-wife for coming daily and bringing me heathy/tasty food. Soon I was out of ICU and my arm back to normal however the night before discharge it all went south one more time. Upon returning home I would awaken with crushing headache and my entire right side would go numb from lip to ankle. This would reverse in 20 minutes and never occurred after the 1st week.
Since then the right arm has been 100% like it used to be although I suspect I control it via an alternate pathway, signature is smooth, bench press is reliable. I am quite thankful things are going so well. I hit my ex-girlfriends Christmas family dinner, I went to an interview for a great job totally unprepared other than their stock price, and presented a great birthday for my daughter and Christmas in the same week while working overtime.
I researched and began consuming Panax Ginseng, plus Iron and spinach while boosting warfarin/coumadin to 7.5 per day. I am lifting heavy now and jogging around the lake and rollerblading. I am actually having days where I completely forget I ever had a stroke. Christmas was 90 days from my 9/25 discharge.
90 days of warfarin to go with MRI/MRV one week from today in order to check on my progress. I feel very lucky, now back to this UC nonsense that started it all ( prednisone was 100mg ). I wont take the evil P again and will fight UC with Human Probiotic Infusion, spinach and the PC granules.
Good to hear you never stroked again - good for you and it bodes well for me as well :)
