Many of you may remember my posts from when we were on vacation this past August. My 8 year old daughter, wife and I flew to Las Vegas from Toronto and rented a car for 9 days. We toured many places within Nevada, Arizona, Utah and California. After going through thousands of photos I have completed the first 5 photo albums of our trip. Hi Paul, we also were at Monument Valley this summer, in August. It was fantastic. You have some photos of places we didn't see. We didn't like the looks of the open air buggies for tours and our van did NOT like the bumpy road (I tried). Looks like you had a better alternative.
I really liked the Navajo people we met and it looks like they were equally nice to your wife.

Did you notice how many international people were there? We heard many many languages spoken and a busload of Japanese visitors.
Such a beautiful peaceful place.

We are also still going through thousands of photos from our 7,000 mile trip.

Aww your daughter is getting so big! You look different as well. I think the last time I looked at your pictures, you were on pred (?) and had the chipmunk cheeks. It was a while ago I know. I am so glad to see you out and about enjoying the world. Your Grand Canyon pics brought back memories of our time there in June this year. And a helicopter ride??? No way, no how! lol My kids tried talking me into taking one but I have a fear of flying!

Yes. UC really is a hidden disease. You don't look like you have UC at all, and yet you do.

imagardener2, I booked the tour of Monument Valley about 6 weeks in advance. I thought we were getting one of those open air buggies but to our surprise we got an air conditioned van instead. The Navajo woman that did my wife’s hair was our guide’s 95 year old grandmother. I was surprised that the majority of tourist we saw were German speaking. There were very few American tourists. I think that is because their kids were back to school one or two weeks before our kids.

Sherry, yes Alana is getting big. The helicopter ride was great. You should have tried it. Only the native reserve allows aircraft to fly below the Grand Canyon rim. The National park doesn’t because of a crash a number of years ago. I haven’t taken pred since our Alaska vacation in 2008.

Thanks, Paul. I do appreciate your photography and the interesting way you organize the albums. I especially like that shot of Alana looking at the giant ray. (They are the weirdest when seen through aquarium glass-- sort of like underwater bats.) The Hoover Dam album would not open, BTW. Glad that you feel healthy enough to do all the trekking. Let us hear more from you every few months, eh? I think there are 50-60 yr-old men or their wives signing on here for advice fairly often, who mainly get us women to reply-- but the ones who need surgery could definitely benefit from your experience. Thanks Old Hat, I tried the Hoover Dam link and it wouldn’t work for me. I noticed that a few characters in the link were wrong so a tried to edit it. Every time I did that it would change it back. I was going crazy until I figured it out. The last part of the link is “HooverDam Nevada” without the space between the m and N.  That makes part of it look like the word “dam n” without the space. Apparently that is a bad word for Healing well and it was automatically changed to “darn”. I only put the spaces in this example so it wouldn’t be changed for this post. This is hilarious.  You can also access my photo albums by going to:

Paul,

It's great to see you out enjoying life once again with your family. I feel blessed every day that I can be out living life and not worrying about UC; it appears that you do too. Great photos, thanks for sharing!

Thanks for sharing with us! Your pictures are fabulous.

I only wish we had gotten a chance to go on a vacation this summer. Now my Maternity leave is over (3 weeks) and I'm back to work :(

LOL, Paul-- I guess you have to post that you took photos at the Hoover Darn. No cuss words, please, naughty, naughty. A while back I had trouble with a word being asterisked in the post, & could not figure out why. Quincy took a look & assessed that the problem arose because I used a proper noun ending in n-a-z-i, which this system rejected similarly to your title! / Old Hat (30 yrs with left-sided UC; presently in remission taking brandname Colazal)

I have seen words being asterisked before but this is the first time I saw a word changed to another word with a similar meaning. I edited the Hover Darn link in my original post to something that should work. Here is another copy of it.

Yep, it works now! Maybe the switching of your original word had something to do with HWF systems changes that Sherry (Red 34) mentioned a couple weeks ago. Other posters had different problems back then & the moderators commented that there had been administrator adjustments. Anyway, back to the Hoover: my late mother & 3 sibs passed thru there while it was under construction-- ca. 1929-30, I think. Their car was probably a hand-cranked Ford! / Old Hat (30 yrs with left-sided UC; presently in remission taking brandname Colazal)
