I have tried all that naturopath stuff (BS in my mind, didn't do squat for me in 2002 during my 1st issues, led to my first prednisone).
Yes. There is a lot of scammers out there feeding on the hopes of others. So it's important to pay attention to one's own condition, find out the possible risks if any of any alternative treatment, and try methods that make sense to you.
The following have been given the green light by researchers:
Vitamin C for improving the body's ability to absorb iron.
Iron for iron deficiency anemia.
Zinc for healing skin ulcers in people who have low zinc levels (no effect for those who already have normal zinc levels)
Magnesium for helping to maintain normal immune system function.
Probiotics for managing diarrhea.
Turmeric/Curcumin for helping to reduce inflammation.
And for stress-related illnesses:
Biofeedback
Guided imagery
Hypnosis
Meditation
Muscle relaxation
Music therapy
Relaxed breathing
Spirituality and prayer (it doesn't have to center around God if you are an atheist)
Tai Chi
Massage
I agree about
Canasa suppositories. My flares always start at the bottom and work their way up. Canasa has been great with keeping me out of a flare. Whenever I experience any signs of a possible flare coming on, I use Canasa and everything goes back to normal. The only thing I don't like about
Canasa is that it gives my body an odor. Not horrible, but I'm not used to having an odor.
Lialda, Asacol, Colazal only make my condition worse.
