he knows it will be useful but is otherwise unimpressed. his 2 yr old sister finds it fascinating, however and has already put it to good use. ;)

he's doing much better, thanks for asking. last week he had withdrawl from the steroids and then developed an allergic reaction to the antibiotic he was taking to treat an infection that I blame on his medically weakened immune system. he's doing better than usual now, lots of energy and appetite.

i'm excited ya'll are doing the FT and can't wait for updates. i hope it works for her for a long time. i can only imagine the dialog between your two teenage daughters regarding this. :)
one time he had really bad withdrawl that was exactly like what you would see in the movies. it was his second time on steroids and i think there was some miscommunication (they were perscribed by a different GI in the practice), and we didn't know about the need to slowly taper. one morning after a big taper he had cycles of fever and lowered body temp. he was lethargic, wouldn't eat and his lips turned blueish. i figured it was withdrawl, having seen something similar before, and gave him the previous dose of steroids and once they kicked in it was back to normal within a few hours. he usually has a little fever and loss of energy and appetite for the first few days after tapering and more so when he completely comes off the steroid. our most recent experience with steroid tapering his bm's got slightly worse with each taper but reformed within a couple of days at each level. we are now off the steroids and back to mush poo, but no blood, well occasional blood but not like before, and much less urgency and pain, and every now and then he gets a good formed BM. i would call this his remission.
