It sounds like after you eat that your gut starts moving more quickly...it may sense inflammation or fullness in the lower part of your colon and want to empty quickly. The result is more spasms that actual process of peristalsis working correctly.

I would suggest that you ask for dicyclomine (Bentyl or Bentylol if you're in Canada) 10mg and take it about a half hour before you eat and at bedtime.

The suppositories...take them at least twice a day.

I think your colon is having hissy fits and you need to calm things down a bit before you eat. It shouldn't be a distressing time for you....

Are you taking any other pain killers?

I don't think you're having a problem describing the pain...I think the question asking is the problem from others, especially the kooky nurse.

Don't underestimate the power of the antispasmodics...they are amazing. And stress, in itself, can exacerbate any symptoms...remember that the gut learns VERY quickly how to react.

Your assertiveness and proactive approach is important. The more you understand how things work, the more answers you may get.

If you have enough supps till the doc appointment, use the supps twice a day. Then once you get the enemas...I bet that will help immensely. But, I think you do need the antispasmodic.

I second the suggestion that you try a fiber supplement and a good quality probiotic in addition to your meds. The SCD was helpful to me, but was only part of the equation. A good quality probiotic works with the diet to help starve the bad gut flora and restore the good.

And be prepared for symptoms to flare around that time of the month. Even as long as I've been in remission, I still get some gurgling, cramping, gas and change in bowel habits before and during. There are many women who don't have IBD that experience diarrhea around that time.
