Flu shot and possible flare.....?

Well, after almost a year of no symptoms to speak of I had the flu shot Friday.  Since I have had some left-sided discomfort (little pain at night).  I used my rectal meds twice and seems to be improving.  Have not seen blood, no diarrhea but maybe tiny bit of mucous.  Planning on rectal Cortifoam one more night if I feel I need it. 

Anyone else have problems with the flu shot?

I had mine on Friday and no problems.

My suggestion....up your probiotics to double for a few days...

I had a flu shot on Oct 1st and definitely had a reaction (sort of a mini flare) although my doctor calls it a response rather than a reaction.

I am glad to hear someone else may have a reaction!  I have doubled probiotic.  How DO you young people deal with all this - being 70 is bad enough!  My arm is always big, red sore, hard and aching - nothing new this year either!

When I get my flu shot, I always take Tylenol and an Allegra (antihisthamine) at least an hour before I have it done. Maybe that helps?

I would have a difficult time dealing with anything, and I would think as I get older, my tolerance level for dealing with stuff will get less rather than more.

Hope this doesn't continue for you and that tomorrow will be a better day.

zippy - those are some "FUN?" facts.  Of course, I did not read many.  I still rely on my doctor to know what is best for me.

I did have the Asian flu back in the 1950s and would NEVER want to go through that again - rather have a little flare or side effects.  It was horrible!

quincy - I am allergic to antihistamines - thought about that might help!

Feeling better tonight - still going to do one or two more Anusol/Cortifoam treatments.  The steroids in these do affect me somewhat emotionally and feeling "weird" but it doesn't last long.  Taking my Xanax!!

There is much debate surrounding flu shots. I have heard of many who either got the flu, a bad cold or got a flareup after having one. Yes. We are told that the flu shot won't give us the flu. But I do believe that the flu shot temporarily messes up the immune system, making it easier to catch something else or for the body to start attacking itself.
