Ulcerative Colitis and coffee enemas? Any dangers?

I have never heard of that but I know coffee and caffeine seen to upset my situation. I can't imagine it doing terrible harm but I wouldn't try coffee up the bum. Just my opinion. If you come back with good prognosis, maybe i'd give it a shot.

HAve you thought about worm therapy? I would give that a shot if it weren't so expensive. Maybe someday I will try it anyway.

Have you tried fecal transplant? I haven't but I would.

I am with you, I would love to find something natural that would help.

Surgery is always an option but it is just so final and such a big ordeal.

I am sorry to hear about your friend. Was he getting frequent colonoscopies? I know that things can progress extremely quickly - sometimes things aren't picked up fast enough even if you are getting checked often. It's also stressful to have to worry about always having insurance.

Gerson diet is not just about coffee enema but also about the regular juices. Are you also taking regular juices? I am also considering Gerson diet but before I jump into it, I really want to study in depth. I know that my mom got a great relief from cabbage and wheat grass juice. She hates the taste but she swears by it. She got cured (i.e. no symptoms and off the meds for last 10 years) and still sometimes she does a course for 21 days sometimes, out of whim.

So I would be more interested in -
1. How are you following Gerson diet?
2. What restrictions are you observing?
3. What is your regimen with juices and which juices are you going with?
4. Are you sticking to organic fruits and vegetables only?

And the worm therapy that notsosickgirl mentioned, I wonder where you get those T. suis worm eggs. You don't need worms, you need eggs/ova.

Great to hear from you and also hear that your mom has received some good benefits from alternative therapies!! Just the fact of getting off medications is so freeing.

Well, I just got over the flu, which helped me to really want this change (especially after bleeding on and off for 4 years). I pretty much was fasting during the flu, so I figured the Gerson therapy would be a good way to go from now on. So far I have been juicing, though not quite the 13 8oz. glasses a day, but a significant amount. Of course, the 2 coffe enemas so far. I do recommend doing the enemas early in the day. I have noticed that the caffeine does affect me a little, but nothing like drinking it. In fact, it is actually quite nice to be honest.

I think staying away from the dairy may be a good move. I have always enjoyed my dairy. I think it may have some effect on the mucous. I have not taken the meds since Friday morning, and as of right now, I have no pain and the mucous seems to be lessening. Though, the blood has yet to stop. This has been a long run for me. It is feeling like the right track.

For me to do the Gerson therapy in its fullness, I guess my situation would need to be a little more desperate. Though, I do feel some desperation. I just started the first book, The Gerson Therapy last night and am quite encouraged.

I have a friend who had some very terminal cancer. In fact, she has a testimony on youtube (just look under the gerson therapy). She is the nurse:) She has been almost completely cleared of the cancer, which was in both breasts, chestbone, lymph nodes and one of her lungs.

Also, there are a lot of great resources on line. Like small videos with Charlotte Gerson. If you have Netflix, you can watch a few movies instantly about the therapy.

I find VSL3 helps and so does florastor, but I can't afford it. Generally stick to the whole 'eat some yogurt approach' for my probiotics.

I think the Imuran I'm taking has been key in keeping me in remission...though I'm not sure how bad your symptoms are.

Hi Jawink, I would like to know how did you do with your natural healing of UC. Has it worked? I'm trying something similar but using Dr Goldner's method. I'm thinking about coffee enemas. Does it work with active UC? I've also go e vegan few months back.

Also the science is faulty. The caffeine in coffee taxes the liver.

Jawink-what are your meds? Are you on 5-ASAs? 5ASAs and regular screenings are really the best bet against colon cancer.

TSO (trichuris suis ova) are an experiemental worm treatment that's shown much success. It's a pig whipworm. There are also experimental procedures using human whipworm...very low chance of side effects unless you're allergic to the worm. They're rather expensive though.

Also, are you on probiotics?

Coffee enemas, and other forms of enemas, are detoxifying...according to the GAPS doctor. She also considers juicing every morning and bathing in epson salts nightly detoxifying.

I'm surprised I posted that. The gaps doctor IS into detoxing...gently, and is an advocate of enemas which are very common in Europe. However best I can tell the coffee enema is not recommended (by her) for either of the two digestive diseases. Much more gentler options are suggested.
