Thats cool, I'm mostly into water resources and hydraulics, the last few summers I got some work experience doing that and found it quite interesting. How about your husband, has he found a position yet?

He was offered a job that he was interning at and a few months into the position he realized he's not getting the training he's been wanting, so he got a job with the State of Arizona Department of Transportation. It's a training program that lasts up to 18 months. It pays less, but he's getting what he's wanted.

well i'm glad i'm in here with all you fellow nerds! my current job title is mommy to chris (5) and Emily (2.5), but i also take care of my 2 grandmothers one who had a stroke a few years back and needs daily care, and the other who is still pretty self sufficient but just needs me to come around every few days to clean for her and visit. i have a BA in literature and a BS in psychology and would like to continue my education and go into either geriatrics (i just love old folks) or adolescent behavior/ learning/ intervention type stuff. i love science, art, gardening and expanding my knowledge and understanding of the world at large and it's inhabitants. pretty much if i can learn about something, then that's cool with me. i've had all kinds of jobs and will give just about anything a try. i guess i'll just call myself a reniassance woman ;)

Hi everyone, I didn’t see this thread the day it was posted because I was busy with my birthday.

I’m a Control technician at a Nuclear power station. I worked in the plant for 10 years and then transferred to the training centre across the street 10 years ago. I perform maintenance on the control room simulators at the training centre. I do anything electrical, electronic, or instrumentation.

That's awesome Paul. The university I went to had the world's first civilian  nuclear reactor. Our professors always encouraged us to promote nuclear power in our careers if we happened to be in a position to. It was the closest thing to indoctrination (which I agreed with them) I got while in college.

I sure wish my country (USA) would get behind nuclear power. It's amazing what a boogeyman it is here. Heck, I'd drive a nuke powered car if you'd make one :)

I own a window cleaning biz with my husband. He does all the hard work , i do the paper work :)

Before i got UC i was a doing Admin/ Rep work for Mack trucks
Before that I use to do Tech support for a big internet company in australia
Iv also been a make up artist and fragrance girl in dept stores and promo Girl , just to name a few LOL

I thought I didn't want to practice as an attorney, but now I think I might. I don't really know what I want. I was originally going to get a PhD in political science and was accepted to that program and then changed to the MSW for some reason. I kind of wish I had done the phd, as I'd like to teach. I should have graduated with my MSW in May but I was in the hospital for most of that semester so had to stop going

Thanks Sherry, Levi, and Lonie. My Birthday is the day after Halloween and when I was younger I always had lots of candy on that day. Now that my daughter is trick or treating I can have that candy again. lol

I work at the largest Nuclear power plant in North America. We have 8 reactors producing about 540 megawatts each. The plant is over 35 years old and 2 of the reactors were shutdown about 10 years ago. They plan to shutdown another 2 in 5 to 10 years. A few years ago they were planning to build a couple more reactors in Ontario, Canada, but put the plan on hold because of the recent recession. They haven’t built a new nuclear power station in Canada in 20 years.

Biomedical scientist in the UK - I maintain and drive the analysers that do the blood tests.

Yes, I have been at Pickering for 20 years. I work in the Control maintenance simulator group. We have 3 full scope control room simulators including the original Darlington simulator. A few years ago we built a second Darlington simulator and it is located at Darlington. Our group maintains all 4 simulators and sometime I have to go to Darlington to help out but I spend most of my time in Pickering.

What does your husband do at Darlington?

I'm jobless, I'm in my fourth year of double-majoring in German and Chinese.
songlady, I'd love to give private lessons, I played trombone for like 8 years or something. Love it.

I'm an attorney and work as a lobbyist. I represent a group of community hospitals and safety-net clinics owned by an order of nuns.
