My 6mp is too low, my 6mp is too high.....

I'm starting to feel like Goldilocks except I'm still waiting for the "just right".

Before I started on Allopurinol, my 6mp therapeutic range was too low to have much of an impact. So then I started the Allopurinol and now my therapeutic range is too high. I'm not sure what the numbers mean but my GI called me and told me that I am at 453 and ideally I should be in the 200's. So he wants me to skip my 6mp doses on Monday and Thursday to try to get my numbers down. So maybe that is my problem, why I was having some issues. Too high of a therapeutic range? Has anyone else had this happen?

Yes, I was originally on 100mgs Mon, Thur and 50mgs rest of the week. Now I am on 25mgs except for Mon and Thur in which I am not supposed to take the 6mp.

     Sherry, could he be talking about your pancreatic enzyme levels?  My GI doctor never tested me for therapeutic ranges.  However, when I was hospitalized in 08 my pancreatic enzyme levels were through the roof and I believe they were in the 400 range.  Doc took me off the 6MP completely until they returned to normal and then placed me on 50 mgm instead of the previous 100 mgm.

     I don't believe so Sherry.  I think they are different tests.
